Best New Products for 2019

2019 is taking paddling to a new level.  Every year manufacturers come up with new and exciting additions to their products.  Sometimes it’s just a new color scheme.  Sometimes it’s a new accessory feature.  This year is so exciting because there are two really big changes from my favorite manufacturers.  That’s why my pics for the best new products of 2019 are the Red Paddle Co Compact and the Grey Duck Quetico14.

Red Paddle Co 9’6″ Compact

There are so many reasons to love the new Red Paddle Co Compact.  If you are familiar with Red Paddle Co already, you know Red makes the best inflatable boards on the market, period.  Their new compact SUP is a full size inflatable stand up stand up paddleboard (iSUP) that folds down to half the size of a conventional iSUP.

Red’s goal to produce the most transportable board on the planet without compromising on performance – is an undeniable success.  This is a game-changing new board.

The Grey Duck Group “Quetico”

Grey Duck Quetico - Boundary Waters SUP

Boundary Waters here I come

The folks at Grey Duck started dreaming about this board in 2011.  Their vision to build an exceptional board that can handle remote places like Quetico Provincial Park and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is now an impeccable reality. This board is designed to haul loads, be easily transported across portages, and paddle like a dream. Introducing the new Quetico 14′

This board’s dimensions are 14’0” x 30” x 6.9” giving it a healthy volume of 310 liters.  It comes in at a very reasonable 35-38lbs depending on if you get the epoxy or HIPtech technology (meaning it’s more durable against bumps and dents).  It comes with a 10″ center fin offering Grey Ducks standard and amazing tracking and also includes standard the GORE no maintenance vent.

The best features this board offers include:  Center Slot Handle + Neoprene Grab Handles bow and stern for easy carrying.  Six point tie down system on nose and four point tied down on tail for carrying accessories.  XL leash cups for cam straps to tie down a cooler or other large item.  And the most amazing of all, the Greyduck Portage System: Track System + Carriage for portaging and sitting

Quetico 14′ Max paddler weight: Beginner – 250 lbs, Intermediate – 270 lbs, Expert – 300 lbs.
